Menold's Model A Ford

This vintage vehicle was last seen driving in Morton's Pumpkin Festival Parade, about two weeks ago. Before that, you may have seen it parked out front of the Morton office building. A piece from the past, this delivery truck has quickly become an icon of Menold, and we love seeing it out and about in our community!

Tom and Sheryl drove our 1930 Model A Ford panel delivery truck down Jefferson Street, waving to Parade go-ers, and appearing as if they stepped out of a magazine from 80 years ago. The Model A Ford drove the route amidst the firetrucks, marching bands, the many floats, and a large monster truck. An hour and a half later, the parade was over, and the car was safely parked back at Menold.

Tom had been searching for an old Ford ModeI A or AA truck for a long time. Tom's father delivered milk in Peoria in a Ford Model A when he was a teenager back in the 1930s, and Tom has always thought it would be a little nostalgic to own one himself. Tom purchased this particular Model A Ford in 2017, as we were preparing to celebrate Menold's 40th year in business. He had it painted white, and then we worked with a local artist who has a business creating amazing artwork on vehicles, Brad Grimm, to paint the Menold logo on the side. Tom had previously researched logos that were typically seen on 1930 delivery trucks. Brad painted it entirely by hand with brushes! It was so fun watching Tom's vision come to life, step-by-step, and even more exciting watching the vehicle become an icon of Menold, and recognizable by so many in our local community.

Not only is the Menold Model A an icon of Menold, but the Morton Pumpkin Festival is an icon of Morton, and so of course it was fitting to drive the vehicle in the parade. Menold also had a booth at the Festival, and we were amazed, as we are every year, at the excitement and energy from every person who came by to see us. The entire Festival was alive with carnival rides, lights, laughter, music, and of course, lots of pumpkin food! We are so privileged to be apart of a community with such a legacy, and an ongoing love for their hometown. Many of us who work at Menold have roots in Morton, and the love the community has for one another is so encouraging.

If you happen to see the Model A Ford around town, be sure to wave!
